While being too distracted by nerves, you end up falling into a puzzle filled sewer! There's only one way to go, will you be able to get out of this dark sewer before the anticipated concert starts?
“That One Time I Fell Into the Sewers on the Way to the Most Anticipated Concert of My Life!!! ....And There’s Puzzles Down Here?!”, from here refered to as the Sewer Game, was created during a 5 day long game jam with the theme of “Light is the Key”
Immediately after learning about the theme the groups started brainstorming ideas for games genres, game mechanics, art styles and so on. Because of the balance of the group having programmers, level designer and 3D modellers we ended up on a 3D walking simulator with puzzle rooms.
Every room would intepret the theme differently.
Light = Color
Light = Spelling the word
Light = Light
Light = Shadow or lack of light
Light = Weight
Light = Music
Light = Sun
The level design was an interesting experience as I had to balance how an actual sewer tunnel would look like and something that’s enjoyable for the player to walk through.
In the end a more spread out design with equal distance to interesting points in the environment and puzzle rooms. Which lead to the lower mock-up.
The mock-up
